Tarot Talk: What is the Major Arcana

Tarot can be a confusing topic for many and a hard skill to learn.  For Tarot Talk we will be diving in to each card little by little in the hopes of offering an explanation in to it to make it easier to understand for those interested in learning the craft.

Today we will be talking about the Major Arcana and a brief explanation of the cards. Next time, we will be talking about the Minor Arcana and will then get into each card one by one in more detail.

The major arcana is comprised of 22 cards numbered 0 to 21. They usually indicate a major event or life change. They are larger in scope than the minor arcana and generally speak to the energies that affect lives and human experience. The minor arcana is comprised of 56 cards, more than double the minor arcana, so the probability of pulling a major arcana card is a lot less than the minor; meaning that when one is pulled it is time to take notice! Here is a brief meaning of each card based on the Rider-Waite deck, some people read the cards as having different meaning in reverse, so those are included as well.
